board of directors of AcademyHealth has tapped Lisa Simpson, M.B., B.Ch.,
M.P.H., to be the new president and CEO of the professional society and its
advocacy arm, the Coalition for Health Services Research, effective January 17,

February 7-8, Washington, D.C.
The National
Health Policy Conference (NHPC) offers a comprehensive and detailed
look at the nation's upcoming health policy agenda. Participants will hear
directly from policymakers, practitioners, and administrators about their
plans for overcoming the challenges of implementing the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act and advancing health care reform in 2011. The conference agenda includes:

- ACA Impact on Employers
- Putting Patients First
- Health Insurance Exchanges
- HIT Post-Health Care Reform

Alice
S. Hersh Student Scholarships to Attend NHPC
Application Deadline: November 15
AcademyHealth
is pleased to offer the Alice
S. Hersh Student Scholarship which provides two free registrations to the
National Health Policy Conference (NHPC), February 7-8, 2011, in Washington, D.C.
The scholarship is designed to encourage professional and educational
development in health services research and policy among student members.
Applicants must be current student members of AcademyHealth and must be
enrolled full-time in a master’s or doctoral program at the time of
application. The application deadline is November 15, 2010. To apply

NCHS/AcademyHealth Health Policy Fellowship
Application Deadline: January 10, 2011
The aim of the NCHS/AcademyHealth Health Policy
Fellowship is to foster collaboration between NCHS staff and visiting scholars
on a wide range of topics of mutual concern. This 13-month fellowship in Hyattsville, Maryland
allows scholars to conduct new and innovative analyses and participate in
developmental and health policy activities related to the design and content of
future NCHS surveys. All applicants must demonstrate training and/or experience
in health services research and its methodology, especially quantitative data
analysis. Applicants may be at the doctoral student, post-doctoral, or
