Registration for SCI’s Annual Meeting is open! The meeting will take place July 30-July 31, 2009 at the Albuquerque Marriott in
Albuquerque,
New Mexico. There is no registration fee for this or any SCI meeting. We will be offering a number of travel scholarships to states officials without access to travel funds.
This year has been particularly challenging for states. While the debate on national health reform has certainly escalated in
Washington,
DC, we recognize there still is great uncertainty about what the final outcome of that debate will be. States must still continue to focus on their own challenges, which we realize are many. SCI’s annual meeting will inform state officials about what is happening on the ground in other states, and also how some federal reforms that have already been enacted may affect state activities.
Our agenda will include a number of exciting sessions and speakers on both federal and state health reform topics. Planned sessions include updates from states that have passed or are implementing new health reform initiatives, an update on health reform in Massachusetts and Vermont, research and evaluation of state reforms, connectors and insurance regulations, medical homes and payment reform, tools for using data to enhance transparency and accountability, policy reform in Medicaid and CHIP, and the ARRA stimulus package.
To apply for a travel scholarship, visit the SCI 2009 Annual Meeting page and complete the online scholarship request form no later than June 15, 2009. If you have any questions related to scholarships, please contact Colin McGlynn, SCI’s program coordinator, directly at colin.mcglynn@academyhealth.org or (202) 292-6731.
The meeting is open to state officials only. For continuously updated information on the meeting agenda and to register, visit the SCI 2009 Annual Meeting page on the SCI website. Upon receiving your online registration, we will send you a confirmation email.
We hope you will be able to join us in
Albuquerque!
