Grantees in the News

HCFO grantee, Randall S. Brown, Ph.D., vice president, and colleagues at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., received the AcademyHealth 2009 HSR Impact Award for their Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded evaluation of the Medicaid Cash & Counseling program.

Findings from a HCFO-sponsored study led by Judith Hibbard, Dr.P.H., professor at the University of Oregon, were cited in the January 21 FierceHealthFinance editorial, “Can Physicians Make CDHPs Work?” In this study, Hibbard and colleagues examined whether the underlying assumptions of consumer-directed health plans were true.

Stephen Soumerai, Sc.D., professor at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Inc., presented findings from his HCFO-sponsored study at the December 4, Pharmacotherapy Summit. In this study, Soumerai and colleagues are evaluating the effects of prior authorization of new medications among Medicaid beneficiaries with bipolar disorder in the state of Maine.
