CMS Seeks Public Input on Proposed Medicare Part D Public Use Files

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is considering developing several different Medicare Part D Public Use Files (PUFs) that could be used for various types of studies. CMS is interested in receiving comments from the public about these proposed Part D PUFs. Comments may be submitted by e-mailing ResDAC at resdac@umn.edu. When submitting comments, please note which  file(s) you are commenting on (e.g., PUF File 1 or PUF File 2A, etc.); if you are offering a suggestion for a new file, please indicate so and describe the research this file could support.

Please share this information broadly. CMS hopes to receive comments to help create PUFs that would be available to members of the public for a fee. Please note that the supplemental files are being developed because CMS is encrypting identifiers to add back valuable information that would otherwise be lost.

For more information, please visit the ResDAC web site.
